Devastation

Lets see, I remember saying something about jinxing things. Well I must be wonderful at that. He's still doing fantastic with feeds and no desats and whatnot. So if it were up to them (and I wasn't going to tell anyone this, but now it won't happen anyway so I might as well) he'd be having his carseat test tomorrow and be discharged by Saturday if he passed..

That is not going to happen now. They did their stupid MRI and found out what is wrong with him. He doesn't have a pituitary gland. Lovely. So now we have to make an appointment with endocrinology and talk to them about when he might get discharged, because it is now up to the endocrinologist. And lets not forget he is going to need to be on a shitload of drugs his entire life. Assuming he will be able to live without a pituitary at all.

OMG! lots of hugs to you guys - this is sure a rocky trip in the NICU.

I serached quickly and found this site
http://www.pituitary.org/
armed with info!

I found many sites that said this can be treated. Best of luck with the endocrinologist and lots of strength to you both

You can live without a pituitary gland. It's not terribly uncommon to lose it as a result of brain cancer.

I bet he will see the endocrinologist pretty quickly.

I'm sorry Azera. You didn't deserve this, and neither did he.

Oh sweety, I am so sorry to hear that they actually found something to be wrong. I hope that your appointment with the endocrinologist gives you answers and some peace.

Please keep us updated (if you're up to it, of course).

I will be thinking of you.

(((hugs)))

I'm so sorry. You are an amazing mother and Sky is so fortunate to have you. You fight for him, and you give him the fight. Keep it up, and I know that you'll get through this.
